"I have have a passion for people and a passion for solving their problems. What I want to do for Prince George's County as its Congressman is to lead, not just on The Hill but in the trenches, as well." --Jason JenningsThe African American Democratic Club of Prince George’s County reversed its decision and allowed Jason to join the debate this Saturday, Nov. 17 at Oxon Hill, MD. (We thank the club for it's action.) In the debate, Jason excites the citizens of Prince George's with his vision for the county and the 4th district. Things Jason talks about in the debate:
Representing Prince George's County
I have spent most of my life in Prince George's County. I am a product of Prince George's County, so I'm intimately aware the problems it faces and I have seen them first hand. I'm running because we have a lot of problems that need to be solved and not just talked about. A lot of people are concerned about the economy, social security, health care, national security, outsourcing government jobs to private contractors, and outsourcing jobs to other countries so that that businesses can have 5% more profit growth each year. I'm concerned about solving the jobs of Prince George's County.
One of the reasons I am running is that feel that you have to have a passion for people and a passion for solving their problems. What I want to do for Prince George's County as its Congressman is to lead, not just on The Hill but in the trenches, as well. When the Republicans were in charge, our Congressman just needed to be here even when they couldn't get anything done. We need someone to be here in the community.
Education
All of problems in our schools can't be just fixed by the government or government funding. We need to come down to our communities, work with our faith-based organizations, work with our non-governmental organizations, work with our city governments, and our county governments to fix those problems. Our leaders can identity the gaps. Our leaders can come down, roll up their sleeves and work with us. We need to elect leaders who're interested in the community, schools, and in the children more than they are interested in getting re-elected. I can tell you that I don't have any problem getting elected and losing the job for doing the right thing because I have job skills. I'm not afraid to go into the real world, I've been working since I was 13 yrs old. Leadership is about serving people in the community, not serving your contributors from outside the area.
